Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo builds upon the results of Bishop Murray's Blue Ribbon Committee in 2001, the subsequent Strategic Planning Committee's efforts to unify the schools of St. Augustine, St. Joseph, St. Mary, St. Monica and Hackett Catholic Central High School, and Bishop Murray's April 2005 directive. The new unification strategy is designed to ensure that a sound Catholic education will continue to be available to families wishing to provide their children with an outstanding educational experience that emphasizes and reinforces Catholic teachings and values. The Board of the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo, which is composed of the pastors of eight parishes in Kalamazoo county and lay members either appointed or elected, is charged with carrying out this task.
