Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo is an agency of the Diocese of Kalamazoo that exists to, in the manner of Jesus Christ, manage and facilitate Catholic preschool, elementary, and secondary education in the Kalamazoo area.  The Board formulates policy consistent with the values established in the C.S.G.K. Bylaws, Catholic Social Teaching, and Diocesan Policies. 

The C.S.G.K. Board of Directors consists of not less than seven and not more than fifteen members, serving without compensation.  Board members are appointed or approved by, and may be removed by, the Bishop.  The Board takes action on all major questions of finance, services, polices, and programs.  Specifically:

• Promotion and Management of the Catholic schools under its supervision consistent with applicable local, state, and federal requirements and the principles, doctrines, and Canons of Catholicism.

• Coordination and oversight of tuition and finance, fundraising, development, marketing, public relations, facility maintenance, repair and replacement, and strategic planning for the schools.

• Fulfillment of fiduciary responsibilities by establishing and monitoring criteria to assess operations.

The composition of the Board includes:

• As determined by the Bishop, the pastors or other representatives of the Parishes of the roman Catholic Diocese providing direct financial subsides to C.S.G.K.

• One representative of each of the Local Advisory Councils of each school established by C.S.G.K., as appointed by the principal of such school.

• Such other individuals as shall be determined and selected by the Board of Directors and approved by the Bishop.

• A representative or representatives of the Bishop may be appointed by the Bishop and shall be ex-officio non-voting directors.
